Meet Alyssa (she/her)
Like most humans, I was consistently asked from a young age, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Believe it or not, beginning at the age of 10, I responded to this question with “therapist” and I haven’t looked back since.
I believe most mental health providers are drawn to this career based on their own experiences from their lives and I am no exception. I was lucky enough to have been raised in a therapy-positive environment, emphasizing safe self-expression. Even in this environment, I still experienced my fair share of struggles. As such, I was initially drawn to working with children and adolescents due to a desire to support little people in expressing big emotions. However, I soon realized that even big people have little people inside of us longing to be heard, seen, validated, and accepted. This led me to also enjoy my work with adults.

My Values
I view all humans as complex, multi-faceted beings who deserve unconditional acceptance. I value connection. I value the ability to be openly imperfect. I value accessibility. I value voice and representation. I value equity. I value the importance of acknowledging privilege and its impact. I value silliness. I value safe spaces. I value openness and honesty. These values inform everything I do, personally and professionally.
I have developed these values based on personal experiences, as well as my work in community mental health, acute inpatient, residential treatment, school-based programs, mental health consulting, intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization programs, and private practice.
